From torch anthems to trip hop, house, jazz, rap and riot grrl punk, Neneh Cherry’s career has spanned 35 years of hits both critical and commercial. The rebel icon of feminist pop brings her new Four Tet produced album Broken Politics and stacked back catalogue to Sydney.
After a near two-decade break between solo album releases, the Swedish icon returned in 2014 with the eerie and deeply personal Blank Project and 2018’s more reflective Broken Politics.
Both albums were written with Cherry’s husband and co-writer Cameron McVey and produced by Four Tet and Massive Attack’s Robert Del Naja aka 3D. Sparse and intimate on record, Neneh Cherry’s live show ramps up the energy, spinning new and old materials into a “sweaty, belligerent dance” (The Guardian).
