Sydney Opera House is one of the most widely recognised performing arts venues in the world and encompasses six unique venues. Sydney Festival has presented a diverse range of events at Sydney Opera House for over 40 years, and proudly returns to the Concert Hall and the Drama Theatre in 2019.
The Concert Hall
The Concert Hall is the largest interior venue at Sydney Opera House. With its high vaulted ceiling and interior finishes of brush box and white birch timber it is designed primarily for acoustic performances. All seating in the Concert Hall is reserved seating.
Drama Theatre
With its black walls and deep blue carpet, all eyes are drawn to centre stage in the dark beauty that is the Drama Theatre – Sydney Opera House’s most alluring and unique space. A classic and purist venue, the Drama Theatre is the site of some of the most original artistic endeavours, such as those performed by Bangarra Dance Theatre, Bell Shakespeare and the internationally renowned Sydney Theatre Company.
The Opera House is a 5–7 minute walk from Circular Quay. You can catch multiple train, bus and ferry services to Circular Quay.
SHUTTLE BUS
Designed for elderly and less mobile patrons, Sydney Opera House offers a complimentary Shuttle Bus service from Circular Quay at Stand B on Alfred St (under the Cahill Expressway). This service is not available on Sundays. For more information, click here.

Some bike parking spaces are available underneath the Sydney Opera House Monumental Steps.

BAG CHECKS AND SECURITY
The Opera House implements mandatory bag searches for all ticket holders, and patrons may be subject to random electronic screening. Patrons are encouraged to leave anything larger than an A4 sheet of paper at home to avoid delays in accessing the venue.
Items that will not be permitted inside Opera House venues and will be required to be cloaked include – but are not limited to – backpacks, umbrellas, briefcases or suitcases, large bags, prams and other items that may be hazardous or restrict the movement of visitors. Please arrive early and allow plenty of extra time if you will be cloaking items.
