Entry and Parking

The public lift is located on the Harbour Bridge side of the building and connects three levels to enhance the paths of travel for patrons using wheelchair, pram or with limited mobility.

The lift entry is via the corridor next to the escalators on the Lower Ground Level, and also in the Western Foyer, via the corridor on the Ground Level.

A limited number of accessible parking spaces are available on the concourse near stage door. For more information about booking and rates, see the Opera House website.

The Sydney Opera House car park also has a number of accessible parking spaces and is serviced by lifts.

Inside the Venue

There are a number of wheelchair and companion seating locations in all theatres. A limited number of courtesy wheelchairs are also available one hour before performances for patrons attending events in the Concert Hall.

Accessible toilet facilities are located on the Lower Ground Level (near the Opera Kitchen), inside the Western Theatre Foyer and on Level One (Box Office Level).

FM Radio Systems are available and free of charge and can be obtained from the cloakroom prior to the performance.The FM system is also compatible with hearing aids via an induction loop. Please enquire at the Cloakroom for this service.

The Opera House is a 5–7 minute walk from Circular Quay. You can catch multiple train, bus and ferry services to Circular Quay.

SHUTTLE BUS

Designed for elderly and less mobile patrons, Sydney Opera House offers a complimentary Shuttle Bus service from Circular Quay at Stand B on Alfred St (under the Cahill Expressway). This service is not available on Sundays. For more information, click here.

BIKE 

Some bike parking spaces are available underneath the Sydney Opera House Monumental Steps.

TAXI / DROP OFF

Taxis are able to drop off passengers at the on-site roundabout or under the covered concourse.

BAG CHECKS AND SECURITY

The Opera House implements mandatory bag searches for all ticket holders, and patrons may be subject to random electronic screening. Patrons are encouraged to leave anything larger than an A4 sheet of paper at home to avoid delays in accessing the venue.

Items that will not be permitted inside Opera House venues and will be required to be cloaked include – but are not limited to – backpacks, umbrellas, briefcases or suitcases, large bags, prams and other items that may be hazardous or restrict the movement of visitors. Please arrive early and allow plenty of extra time if you will be cloaking items.
